![]() |
Every woman should have a few pairs of seamed stockings in their wardrobe. Today, you can find seamed stockings in a variety of colors and styles. You can choose from fishnets, full length panty hose, gartered stockings or self adhesive seamed stockings. Black seamed stockings are a classic look but you can get brown seamed stockings, white, sheer, bold colors, pastels and patterns. Not all modern hosiery is expensive but they are an investment. This is especially true if you purchase vintage stockings. So, it is best to know how to properly care for them in order to extend their use and save some money.
First, make sure you put them on carefully. Do not yank them on or you run the risk of getting runs and tears in your hose. If you have long nails or feel you treat your seamed stockings roughly, wear a pair of soft gloves to put them on. If machine washing, make sure to use a lingerie bag and do not dry at high temperatures. However, it is even better to hand-wash your seamed stockings. Hand wash in mild detergent and blot with a towel to remove excess water. Do not wring them! Then, lay them out on a towel to dry. Carefully store your seamed stockings in a lingerie drawer separate from your other lingerie that may have hooks to snag them. With a few simple steps, your seamed stockings will last a long time.
