Fully Fashioned Stockings

fully-fashioned-cuban_heel_stockingsThe foot of fully fashioned stockings will be reinforced from toe to heel and the top of the seam where it meets the welt has a finishing loop.

The heel comes in various designs. The most common heel is the French (pyramidal) heel. This heel narrows to a point and is the most widely available today.

The more traditional one, Cuban heel, darkened reinforced heel (rht) design finishing in a square top rather than pointed top. You see this on most vintage stockings adverts.

Havana heel is a fatter version of the Cuban heel, finishing lower at the calf than Cuban heel.

Cuban heels always looked exotic, with the area of reinforcement show above your shoe. But if you think that is too much for you, go for Havana heel.

The advantage to wearing authentic fully fashioned stockings is that they are much more stable.

Because they are shaped to the leg and have a solid reinforced heel, it keeps the seam firmly in the center. Also, they last much longer than modern stockings made with Lycra.
